Damon Runberg, Economist

Damon Runberg, State Economist, Business Oregon

Overview of Business economic landscape

Damon Runberg is the Economist at Business Oregon, the State of Oregon’s economic development agency. He supports the statewide economic development goals by tracking and analyzing economic indicators critical to Oregon’s workers and businesses. He also evaluates the effectiveness of Oregon’s economic development strategies and incentives. Prior to working with Business Oregon Damon was a Regional Labor Economist with the Oregon Employment Department for the East Cascades of Oregon for nearly 12 years.  We expect his insight into the Oregon Business climate and competitiveness to be practical and constructive.

 

Kyle Sexton

Kyle Sexton, Marketing and organizational strategist, Business development specialist

AI Unleashed: Transforming Marketing, Operations, and Economics

Award-winning marketing strategist, international speaker, and author on membership growth, marketing, and innovation is Kyle Sexton. Chamber Executive magazine named him one of the most important innovators in the chamber of commerce sector in 2011.

As the leading expert in the chamber sector on membership tiers, he helps companies make the switch from traditional dues-based tiers to value-based tiers. National conventions, regional conferences, and industry journals have all highlighted his study and methodology.

The Wall Street Journal has highlighted Kyle's inventive social media accelerator. He is also the author of two books, Follow You Anywhere and ReMembership: New Techniques for Outstanding Membership Organizations.

He has been marketing and selling memberships since 1996. Prior to working in for chambers of commerce, he was the Director of Marketing & Corporate Services for a chain of Gold’s Gym locations in Western Oregon. His work was honored with the 2001 Gold's Gym International Award for Outstanding Advertising from among 600 franchises worldwide.

Kyle received the 1994 Pioneer Award for his first business venture, a College Pro Home Painters franchise which he operated for 2 years while attending the University of Oregon.

Mark Mcmullen

Mark McMullen, VP of Policy & Research, Common Sense Institute of Oregon

Fentanyl: Our Nations Most Devasting Challenge

Having worked as the State of Oregon's Chief Economist for three governors, Mark McMullen offers a wealth of experience. Over his fourteen years at the state, Mark gained great experience. Mark had a number of notable positions before to joining Common Sense Institute, such as researcher at the Congressional Budget Office and director of consulting at Moody's Analytics. He graduated from Pomona College with an undergraduate degree and the University of Pennsylvania with a graduate degree.
Mark's commitment to Oregon goes beyond his work life. In addition to chairing the Governor's Council of Economic Advisors, he participated in task forces that addressed important topics like student progress, COVID response, and wildfires. He also took an active part in a number of economic associations, such as the Oregon Banker's Association, the Workforce and Talent Development Board, the Oregon Council of Economic Education, and the Oregon Government Finance Officers Association.

Mark's awareness of the economic environment of Oregon has been formed by his family's agricultural and forestry work background, which has deep ties to the state. In addition to his career successes, Mark enjoys spending time with his three grown children and is happy in his 27-year marriage.

Humor: Powerful Tool That Unites Us.

Jelani Greenidge is a skilled communicator who strives to enlighten, enrage, and motivate. He performs as a stand-up comedian, DJ, stand-up emcee/producer, musician, and speaker. In addition to her full-time job as a religion correspondent, Jelani leads worship locally. Undercover Prophets: Pursuing the Stand-Up Comedy to Talk About What Matters Most is his most recent book. Along with his college sweetheart Holly, a stone turtle named Myrtle, a few dead plants, and way too many throw pillows, he resides in leafy lush southeast Portland.
